AMS Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

The Board of Directors of Associated Medical Services Inc. (AMS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gail Paech as Chief Executive Officer effective July 8, 2013. Ms. Paech will provide strategic and operational leadership to AMS, a foundation committed to advancing innovative research and education initiatives intended to nurture and deepen the humanistic aspects of health care in Canada.

Ms. Paech is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors. She brings strong leadership and a proven track record in leading large-scale projects focused on health system change. Early in her career, Ms. Paech held several senior administrative roles in Nursing and was Director of a Health Care Practice for a global consulting company. Ms Paech served as Associate Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade and Assistant Deputy Minister of Health and Long-Term Care in Ontario. In these roles she showed exemplary capacity for strategic leadership and was responsible for implementing several high-profile provincial initiatives. Most recently, she served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Long-Term Care Association where she inspired positive changes through the development of a strategic plan aimed at achieving future growth and sustainability. Between 1991 and 1998 she was the President and CEO of Toronto East General Hospital.

Ms Paech holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto. She has been an Assistant Professor in the Faculties of Nursing and Medicine at the University of Toronto.

The AMS Board of Directors and staff welcome Ms Paech to AMS and very much look forward to working with her. As CEO, she will provide leadership for initiatives currently underway including the multi-year AMS Phoenix Project: A Call to Caring and will also lead the development of a new strategic plan with the goal of advancing linkages with key partners to raise the profile of Associated Medical Services.
