Employment Opportunity: Curator


The Museum of Health Care at Kingston, Canada?s national resource for the history of healthcare, is seeking a Curator. The Curator will work with a small professional staff, volunteers and Board and provide team leadership to the Curatorial stream. This post will appeal to someone who enjoys working collaboratively to achieve institutional goals.

The main curatorial responsibility in 2014 will be the creation of a bilingual exhibition with the working title The Canadian Army Medical Corps: Health care and heroism in the First World War.

Qualifications include: a degree in a field that is applicable to the mandate of the Museum, curatorial and collections? research experience, preferably in a museum environment or an equivalent in education and experience; completion of a recognized museum studies program; knowledge of Canadian history; bilingual ability in French is an asset; strong communication ability (written and oral), organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with exhibition teams and advisory committees; experience working in a museum or related institution, with budgeting and staff supervision duties.
Pay scale: $35,000-40,000 p.a.
