The annual CSHM/SCHM conference is held over three days at the end of May or beginning of June at a Canadian university. Part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, this yearly event is an opportunity to hear thought-provoking keynote lectures, learn about the latest research being done by Canada’s medical and health historians, and connect professionally and socially at our popular dinner banquet and celebratory book event.
In 1998 CSHM/SCHM began to meet jointly with the Canadian Association for the History of Nursing (CAHN/ACHN). A decade later this evolved into a successful bi-annual collaboration.
A Call for Papers is posted here in early fall and submissions are invited for individual and panel presentations. Conference organization is done by a Program Committee working alongside a Local Arrangements Committee and the CSHM/SCHM executive. The CSHM/SCHM acknowledges the critical financial contributions made by AMS Healthcare to our annual conference by funding the annual Paterson lecture.
